About Me

My photo
Hi and Welcome!! First and most important I am a mother to 3 very inspriring (and quite energized) children who remind me each and every day about the beauty that surrounds us all...and they keep me on my toes! When I'm not working at "the day job" I try to fit in some learning and growing time to practice both nature and portrait photography. Ever since I was a young girl, I have loved art of many mediums. My ultimate goal would be to move solely into a day filled by using my creativity - whether that be painting, nature photography or custom portrait photography. Hope you'll follow along!

2011 So Far and Some New

--I just realized, it's been over a MONTH since I last posted!  Since I'm newer to the blogging concept, I guess this isn't too bad.  A lot has occurred since December 13th.

We traveled to (and from) Saint Louis amidst the most difficult snow storm(s).  It was an ordeal, but well worth the struggles.  We enjoyed visiting with family, I even managed to make a visit to Tower Grove Park, Forest Park and downtown/Riverfront before we had to leave.  There was just enough snow on the ground to capture some really unique and wintery shots!  I've posted many of these on my facebook page and in my Etsy shop.

Some exciting news:  The 5x7 matting has arrived!  I'll be matting some 5x7 and 8x10 sized photographs over the next week and listing these options in the shop soon!  My "Winter Sparkle" photograph was featured on the front page of Etsy this week!

I was so excited! It was my first time making front page - and I can't wait for future features.

I've been featured in lots of treasuries recently and will post a separate blog this weekend which includes all the links of the treasury and curator's shops.

There's so much in store for 2011 - we've already experienced some beautiful and stunning snow and ice storms.  I've began a 2011 52 Photograph Project (will detail the first 4 shots on the next post!)  New ideas, more trips in the future and spring is quickly approaching.

Stay tuned, I should be back to weekly blog posts,  hopefully!

Monday's winter weather, matting & more...

It's been a bit - so much has been going on in the past week.

First:  The 8x10 matting option has been added into the shop!  YAY!  I love the way it looks, and tested it on 2 different listings to provide examples.  The option can be added on with any 8x10 print purchase!  Click here to see a close up picture of the white double matting.

Second:  I've been featured in some wonderful treasury listings since my last post.  Here are some:
*My "Sunbathing Smart Weed" photograph was featured in "Blushing Tinsel Under $50 Gift Guide" curated by Venbead!  Check out her shop - it's divine!  My favorite is the "Put The Lime In The Coconut" necklace - amazing!

*My "Whispers In Pink" photograph was featured in "Dreaming of a Romantic Christmas" curated by petitehermine!  She has a wonderful shop full of beautifully crafted bracelets, necklaces and some adorable items for your home!  I'm loving the "Moody Clouds Coasters - 4pcs"!

*My "Blue Bouquet" photograph was featured in "Nantucket Style" curated by sstormster!  This treasury reminded me of summer...I so miss the warm weather!  She has amazing Fine Art Photography available - I'm in love with her photograph "Sunburst" - I adore bright & vibrant colors - this photograph has both!

Third:  I've been super busy finishing LOTS of prints.  Yesterday I was able to add 16 more original prints to the shop.  Truth is, I'm trying to get caught up so that I'm not too behind after the holdiays!

Some of my favorites added yesterday:

"Sunflower Trio"

"Suspended n.2"

"Technicolor Mushroom"

I adore each one for different reasons - the Sunflowers for their vibrant yellows and similar qualities, the grapes for their lack of foliage and fall like colors and the mushroom because I lean towards bright, bold color palettes!  There are many more that can be viewed on Facebook or in my shop.

We are super busy preparing for the fast approaching holidays around here...and of course our long overdue trip back home to St. Louis!  There's nothing quite like being surrounded by family and friends during the holidays - plus I've heard they already have snow - would love to photograph some of the famous St. Louis scenery...with snow :)

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Busy Fridays, Photo Of The Week, Front Page!

Whew....it's been a very hectic week!  Both with the day job and preparing for the holiday season around the house.  I've also been trying as hard as possible to list new items in my shop.

First:  I've listed 12 new original photographs!  Some favorites including dew, hydrangeas and sunflowers!
One of my newest additions, "Whispers In Pink",  was also included as part of Jessica Roger's Photo of the Week #14.2.  Please check it out, comment, share, etc!  I'm so very excited!

I love the hydrangea pics - they are so very versatile and soft in pinks, purples and blues...easily can be matted and framed for many different room types and decorating preferences!

Second:  To my utter amazement this morning...one of my Treasury collections was picked for the front page of Etsy.com!!  This is wonderful and I'm so very thankful!  The collection is called Bring The Spa To You!  Please check it out, click, comment & share!

Third:  I'm a bit behind in listing the matting (only a week or so) but promise to have the add-on option available as soon as possible.

And finally...I'm checking out a new printing company (excited!)  which provides more creative options (gallery blocks, gallery prints in sets of 3, etc)!  I love the options available and cannot wait to order some samples...more to come

I know this was a relatively short post, but it's back to work work work for me :(
PS:  I'm super ecstatic about a new lens that I've been eyeing - with my discount, plus the holiday bonus discounts...I see a new lens in the future!    Hopefully BEFORE our trip back to St. Louis this winter! {fingers crossed}

Hope everyone has a wonderful & relaxing weekend!

Thanksgiving, Coming Soon, Matting, Gallery blocks...and more!

It's been a bit since my last post, so much has been going on these days.

First, I'm happy to announce that I have received my matting kits and will be posting the option in the store this weekend.  The mats are simply divine.  Double white and nice thickness to make a great addition on any print order in my shop...this means the 8x10 photographs can now be received ready-to-frame!!

Second, I've been busy busy busy working on some new layers and finished photos containing a magnificent morning dew and some wonderful hydrangea blooms!
"Endless Circles"

"Dreams In Blue"

"Hope"

These are just a small sampling to some new prints coming soon!

Third, I have been searching and researching some new gallery print options.  I just received a sample order I placed earlier this month.  I used a personal photo of my children from a summer trip at the beach.  The photo was printed on block wood, with black sides and coated with lustre scratch resistant coating.  It is phenomenal, I have to order a few more samples, but will definitely be offering these types of gallery displays in the future. They look fabulous displayed in any room!!

On a sidenote, I'm super excited about some upcoming trips in the next 6 months.  We're heading back to St. Louis to visit with my family over the holidays and I cannot wait!  There is wonderful architecture and history around every corner and hopefully lots of beautiful snow - the camera will definitely be in tow :)  I'm also planning a trip to DC in the spring of 2011 to visit with my sister and to photograph the Cherry Blossom Festival.   If all goes well this month, we may even be able to sneak a trip up to Asheville, NC! I would love to see some snow in the mountains..fingers crossed...

Hope everyone's Thanksgiving was wonderful!  We had a lovely time visiting with family and enjoying the mild weather outdoors - we even managed a pre-meal hike through the woods, which will be memorable for all of us :)

Rainbows, Treasury, Projects & Friday...oh my!

I could not be any happier that today is Friday!!  It's been a long and very hectic week around here, and there seems to be a pattern developing.  I have accomplished quite a few items from my to-do list, so needless to say I am taking a big sigh of relief.

First:  The Rainbow Series Limited Edition project is FINISHED...yay!  I took my time carefully considering each flower's color options and am pleased with the finished products.  There are also separate papers selected.  The 8x10 and 5x7 sizes will be printed on Premium Plus photo paper (high gloss) which is rated to last many many generations.  The 4x6 size option will be printed on Advanced photo paper (glossy) - which is also rated to last a lifetime.  In addition, the 8x10 and 5x7 sizes can be ordered with or without a thin black border, giving more options for matting.   These photographs are a vision of vibrant rainbow colors - which would look wonderful in many different colored rooms.  They even look great mixed or matched in pairs or trios with a group frame or individual frames!  Please check them out by visiting my shop and let me know what you think:

Second:  I'm also excited about being able to offer double mats for my 8x10 prints - hopefully these will be arriving within the next week and I will update as soon as possible.  These mats are gorgeous and will be offered in conjunction with an 8x10 print purchase - includes backing and protective clear bag for shipping.

Third:  Friday's Treasury:  When Gray met Pink
A collection I put together this morning with beautiful listings of both vintage and handmade items in grays and pinks!  I had a wonderful time exploring brand new shops (again).  Each shop was so unique and extraordinary - hard to pick just 16.
The first 3 items:
Tickle Me Pink 8x8 photograph  shop LaneyButler  - Beautiful colors and so soft!  This shop has some beautiful photographs.

Vintage Bead Strand Necklace Pink Pearls  shop Uncommonvintage - wonderful vintage necklace!  This shop has some wonderful vintage pieces.

Vintage nothing but flowers full swing skirt  shop shopREiNVTAGE - I love this skirt!!  This shop has some amazing vintage pieces as well - check it out!

Lastly:  Being that my project is completed...that means...it's time to start my next challenge.  Hint: this one will involve little to no color :)

Have a great weekend!
